Equity markets are mixed with US equities tumbling lower as investors continue to worry about trade disputes despite the 90-day pause announced yesterday, with much of the concern centering around the tariff escalation between the US and China. Crypto markets are flattish today as macro sentiment continues to weigh despite positive news on the inflation front with a lower-than-expected CPI print for March.
Notable news includes: Paul Atkins was confirmed as SEC Chair by the US Senate; the US SEC approved the listing and trading of spot ETH ETF options; OKX and Standard Chartered launched a pilot letting institutions use crypto and tokenized money market funds custodied off-exchange as collateral for trading; Grayscale appointed former BlockTower executive Diana Zhang as COO; Block agreed to a $40m settlement with the NYDFS over accusations that the company didn’t properly manage its money-laundering safeguards; Magic Eden acquired trading app Slingshot to expand its NFT marketplace capabilities across multiple blockchains; Babylon launched its layer 1 blockchain ‘Genesis’; Cosmos developers launched the Eureka upgrade to the inter-blockchain communication (IBC) protocol, expanding it to other blockchains like Ethereum; and, Ethereum-based MMO game Eve Frontier will host a 10-day free trial period starting on Friday, April 11.
