Daily Market Update: April 11, 2025

BTC is currently trading around $83,700 and ETH around $1,550.  Notable gainers in the last 24 hours are XCN, FARTCOIN and CRV.  The global crypto market cap is $2.73T, up 4.1% over the last day.  DeFi Total Value Locked is ~$90b and BTC dominance is around 64%.

Equity and crypto markets are higher after comments from the White House indicated that President Trump is optimistic China will seek a tariff deal with the US, and after the latest US PPI print showed lower-than-expected inflation, adding further evidence of inflation cooling after yesterday’s similarly better-than-expected CPI.

Notable news includes: President Trump signed a congressional resolution eliminating the IRS’ DeFi broker rule, finalizing the process to remove the rule; the US SEC published a guidance statement advising crypto companies to provide detailed disclosures if their tokens may be considered securities; the SEC held its latest crypto roundtable on crypto trading; New Hampshire’s House of Representatives passed a bill proposing the establishment of a state Bitcoin reserve, which will now be considered by the state’s Senate; Grayscale Investments and Osprey Funds reached a settlement agreement in their legal dispute over fund marketing practices; HashKey received approval from Hong Kong’s regulators to offer staking services; World Liberty Financial denied reports from earlier this week saying the project had sold millions worth of ETH; Ripple Labs and the SEC filed a joint motion to pause their legal proceedings to pursue a negotiated resolution to their years-long dispute regarding sales of XRP; Helium developer Nova Labs announced it has reached a $200k settlement with the SEC; StarkWare published a research paper describing ColliderVM, a possible approach for achieving Turing complete computation on Bitcoin that sidesteps some of BitVM’s drawbacks; Vitalik Buterin published a post outlining his vision for how Ethereum can improve its privacy features in the short-term; social news platform Digg is being revived by its co-founders with a vision to incorporate crypto wallets and tools; and, WalletConnect set April 15 as the launch date for its token.
